September 30th

Wow what a week!!!   We have been busy....we finished our first units in math...we pre-tested for Reading and writing, and we worked on brain teasers and mapping.

These students are awesome!!!  I began working on skill groups today.  We will look at different ways to build our reading strategies and fluency.  Students will practice these skills each day and become stronger readers.

We have OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, October 6th at 5-6 pm.  There is also a PTO event after and a BOOK FAIR before and during.

Tomorrow is PJ DAY!!!!  We are celebrating Homecoming Week with the High school.
Students can wear PJs and slippers tomorrow.

We will celebrate at EP too!!

September 20th

We have begun RTI were we split off as a grade level to cover our core math lessons in more detail.
We have a unit 1 test tomorrow in MATH.  Students completed a unit review with me to prepare for the assessment.
We have also worked on proper sentence structure in writing focusing on capital letters.
In reading we discussed what to do with those tough words we have no idea what they mean.....what do you do???

We ended the day with people that help our community...and zeroed in on the construction workers working to build our new school and help make our community a better place.  We made them a banner to hang on their fence.

September 19th

We made it through our first round of the 12 day cycle.  We did a great job.
I will be F & P testing each student in the next few weeks to get a better idea of their reading levle and find ways to meet their needs.

We have some great investigators on our playground.  Some girls found a very interesting friend in nature.....

We had a really good day.   We worked on drawing with compasses, working on probability/certainty, and math boxes.

We have read and wrote and shared our joys.

We have been working through all the construction as troopers.

September 13

We had indoor recess all day.  We were able to play ping pong and create artistic shape designs.

We have started working on our stamina in writing and adding details.

WE have BIG HILL on FRIDAY!!!!

We had a great week.  This class is awesome!!!We have been so busy and the students have made all transitions smoothly!!

I love getting compliments about how wonderful our class is when the walk in the hall...act on the playground...and work in their specials!!!

What a GREAT way to start the year!!!!!

FYI:
All students should be reading 10-15 mins each night...and  I ask that they practice math facts for about 10 mins 4 days a week.. (quick little fact questions from you, fast facts on computer games, Math Ninja on IPADs)

Look for BOOK IT starting in October.

September 8

WOWZA...it has been hot in our class.  Not being able to open windows has been rough!!!  But cooler weather is on the horizon....right???

We have been doing some great writing, reading, and math work.  Yesterday we took the STAR reading assessment and today we took the math one.  The reason for these assessment so early in the year is to help me meet each child where they are at....and move them forward.  We have a range of readers that will work nicely together from both grades.

Tomorrow we have a PBIS Assembly and we would love for all our students to wear their PBIS shirts...if your child does not have a PBIS shirt they can wear a Purple shirt instead.

September 6

The students came back refreshed and ready to learn.  We got a lot accomplished .......even though we were HOT!!!!!!

Please let your child bring a water bottle if they ask...it is very warm in our room.  We can not open windows, but we do have two fans.

We will STAR test tomorrow so I can get a better idea of how to meet each child's needs.

Another great day!  We were able to begin reading, writing, and MATH!!

We started our chromebook exploration today as well!!!

FIRST DAY of School!!!!!

WAHOOO!! We had a VERY good first day of school.  I think I know everyone's names! (The test is tomorrow when they come in again!)

We went over expectations, PBIS, and our schedule.  We color and designed a paper T-shirt and a quick story and reconnected with friends, and met some new ones.

We have three new EP students in our class.  Welcome to Addi, JJ, and Kadence!!!!

Each night students should read a little and do some math practice (4-5 days a week).

WE HAVE A GREAT CLASS.....I am so lucky they are all in room 405!!!
