We got to try new coding activities for the hour of code that takes place across the nation.

STEP Came to EP!!!

We had lots of visitors at 4th grade today.  There was s kick off to the STEP program to promote being prepared for weather situations and just being safe!

We have lots of kids earning feathers for great behaviors!  One prize is the principal's chair for the day!

We are heading to the High School on Monday!!!

We were invited to see a performance of a play at the High School on Monday.  We will leave Eagle Point at 8:30 am and return by 11:15 am.

We have been busy working cooperatively in math and had a WEATHER Scavenger Hunt......

At Work with Math

We were busy solving our multiplication and division problems today.  We were able to THINK-PAIR- and SHARE.

Air resistance...on our PARACHUTES

We were able to try out our Parachutes we made.  We were testing the air resistance on the parachutes when we released them from different heights on our playground equipment.
We have a rain delay on Wednesday but we were able to get out on Thursday.

Great week!!

We have a great class!!  We were very busy and got a lot accomplished.
We have a FIELD TRIP to the BIG HILL on Tuesday morning...look for a note home today!

Starting up our units in Reading and in Writing

Yesterday we spent some time testing our understanding of character development.  Today we created a Narrative essay to see what we need to work on as writers.

In math we have really focused on place values and comparing standard form numbers.

 I am so lucky to get to work with them each day!

We have gotten into our new math curriculum and boy is it different.  We do a lot of tough thinking.  The students are very challenged and will learn lots this year!!!

TESTING DAY

WAHOOOOOO!  We have completed our first I-Ready test in math.  The students were VERY patient with the Google issues.  It took a little longer than we thought....but we were able to finish.

September 11

Today we discussed the history of what happened on this date in 2001.  As fourth graders we looked at a summary of events and talked briefly about terrorist attacks and how of world has changed because of them.  Students were very intelligent with their responses.

We have been working on Think- Pair-Share in math.  We look at simple problems we can all solve, but then digging deeper as to why it works the way it does.  We use place value to show our understanding of a problem like:
 567- 348=                                500 + 50 + 17
                                             -  300 + 40 +   8
                                               200 + 10 +  9 =  219

Students will draw it out or show it with base 10 blocks.

We will be completing the I-Ready diagnostic assessment tomorrow at 10 am.  I am sure the class will do their best!

Wednesday, September 6th

We have had another great day!  We worked on pulling apart math problems, spelling, reading stamina, mindset work , and getting writing ideas.

We were able to play a game and enjoyed 2 specials today.  We have a great class!!!

WAHOOOOOO! We had a great day!

Boy did time fly by!!!! We were so busy getting to know our routines and meeting one another we were surprised it was the end of the day all ready!

All the students did a great job.  We have many new friendships starting and old ones re-uniting!

I think we will have a fantastic year!!!!!

It's AUGUST...have you been reading??

Can you believe it is August already?  I hope you all have enjoyed the summer.  I want to remind you to read and work on practicing your multiplication and division skills a little bit each day.   Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you soon!

What an AMAZING YEAR!!!!

We had a great end of the year!!!  This year was a fantastic one filled with many new learning opportunities.  We worked hard and we were able to enjoy rewards!  I will miss all the fourth graders moving on to fifth grade, but know they are all super capable of doing wonderful things!!
